Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Schneider visits the glass & façade technology research group from May, 9th until May, 20th, 2016 for teaching support and scientific exchange on research topics. His visit is funded from the Erasmus+ staff mobility program.
Prof. Schneider is a full professor for structural engineering at the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Design (ISM+D) at TU Darmstadt, Germany. He is specialized in structural mechanics of glass & polymers, facade structures, synergetic, energy-efficient design of buildings and structural dynamics with a focus on bridges at the interface between experimental data and inverse modelling. Since 2015, he leads the European project group for the preparation of the new Eurocode 11 „Structural Glass“. He will teach structural design and durability aspects of engineering façade design within the GD4 – Civil Engineering Project/ Façade Engineering Design 3rd year engineering students.
